Simple Flamingo nail art

Lately I have noticed a new trend of Flamingos on everything! Fabric, stationery and homewears. It has inspired me to create a super simple Flamingo nail art design.

Flamingo nail art shades:

1. Paint your nails with a blue polish as a base.
flamingo nail art2. Use the light pink shade (fairy floss) to paint your Flamingo’s body, neck and head. I used a toothpick to paint the neck and head, so they were not to thick/big.
flamingo nail art3. Using another toothpick, paint on the black details including the eye, beak and legs.
flamingo nail art4. Finish the design off by painting on the wings with the darker pink polish.
flamingo nail artWhat trends are you loving at the moment? I also noticed there are a lot of Banana things around, I wonder if this is because the Minions favourite food are Bananas?…coincidence haha

piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013- Celebrating the year of the blogger

Not only is it my birthday today (yay), but it is also piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2013! This year’s blog fest is all about celebrating bloggers and showcasing some amazing nail art, using some gorgeous piCture pOlish shades!

I am excited to be apart of the event for a 2nd year! You can check out my post from last year here.

The three colours that piCture pOlish kindly sent me to use in my nail art, are ‘Wisteria’, ‘Hot Lips’ and ‘Marine’.

L-R: Hot Lips, Marine, Wisteria

It took me a couple of weeks to finally decide on the nail art design that I decided to create, but I finally came up with a Peacock manicure because the Marine shade reminded me of the male peacock’s green/teal feathers.

I used a plain white polish to make the design stand out and a little orange for the beak…everything else was created with the 3 piCture pOlish shades.

piCture pOlish blog fest 2013For the body, I made a kind of ‘bowling pin’ shape with Marine. Then I painted on teardrop shapes (as the tail) in Wisteria, in an arc cascading over the two outer nails. I finished those 3 nails off by adding a white dot for the eye, Hot lips inside the ‘tail feathers’, a small orange beak and the crest on the peacock’s head.

please excuse my awful skin! my hands have been drying out from the chemicals I use to clean at work! definitely should use some mosturiser!

For the two remaining nails I painted a peacock feather on each, with alternating colours. (purple on the outside & pink on the inside, reversed on the other nail).
