Salon Melbourne 2014

On Sunday I attended Salon Melbourne, an industry trade event for Salon owners, employees, students and anyone else that works in the Salon industry. I was there as ‘Media’ (even though my pass says ‘Exhibitor’ lol).

salon MelbourneI decided to have a walk around before I took some photos and to see where the brands were, that I wanted to come back to later (to do a little shopping).

Here are some of some photos I took and what I purchased on the day.

salon melbourneHow cool is this haircare ‘claw machine’ that was at the Redken exhibit? I was tempted to try my luck because I am pretty good at these types of games (I have many plush toys from the machines in my local cinema foyer), but the line to have a go was quite long every time I walked past. Such an original and creative feature. It was definitely something that grabbed people’s attention (pun not intended…I realised as I typed it haha).

The Lime Crime booth, it was definitely the busiest on the day! So crazy… I only picked up one thing, but you’ll have to wait until the end of this post to see what (sorry).

salon MelbourneOne of the Eye of Horus displays. I did intend on picking something up, but by the time I came back around to their booth, I had already spent over what I intended to. The staff at the booth were so lovely and one of the women told me that they plan on releasing a gold eye pencil soon (you heard it here first! 😉 ) I’m looking forward to that and I am lucky that one of my local pharmacies stocks Eye of Horus!

The photos above are from the Tony & Guy 50/50 runway show. It showcased styles from the past 50 years, with modern twists. The styles were stunning! Tony & Guy is one of my favourite salon brands.

This post is already long enough, so I will post up some swatches and more details on the items I picked up over the next couple of weeks.

I really enjoyed attending my 1st Salon Melbourne, it was a little hectic but worth it. Thanks to Amreeta from Maxted Thomas for organising my pass, it was great meeting you. I look forward to attending again next year. I think I will plan better next time!
