How to Style Autumn Pastels

Autumn fashion may be associated with sunset coloured leaves, moody hues of grey skies & rainy days, but that doesn’t mean that you need to put the pastels away just yet. I am going to show you how you can style Autumn pastels a few ways that won’t leave you looking like you are dressed for the wrong season!

Pastels & Grey

Pastels work great with varying shades of grey. Keep the darker shade on the bottom half, as lighter colours are more flattering against the face. If wearing a blazer, try not to wear the same shade of grey on the bottom half or it will look like you are wearing a suit, especially when worn with dress pants or slacks.

Pastels on Pastels

It is possible to style Autumn pastels on top of more pastels without looking like you are dressed for Spring. It’s all about contrast. Pair a light blouse or skirt with a pastel hued knit or coat for the perfect feminine ensemble. You could also wear a skirt in a heavier fabric, with a top or cardigan in a lighter fabric. Tip: Break it up a little by adding grey or black shoes and accessories.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been seeing beautiful new clothing pieces that I would love or dream to own. So I thought that it was time that I created a Fashion Wishlist!
(It may include a few fashion accessories too)

Fashion wishlist

1. Poppy bardot neckline skater dress, Forever New- The moment I saw this dress online, I just new I had to have it. It reminds me so much of Audrey Hepburn and I adore the style. The perfect thing about it, is that even though it’s short sleeved, I could team it with some opaque tights for winter!(at the time of publishing this post, I now own this dress!)

2.Big Garland ‘Blush’, Sportsgirl- I thought that I would never be into the flower garland (I have one with daisies that I still haven’t worn!), but I saw these in store and they look gorgeous! I definitely think I will be getting one for spring.

3.Lavinia skirt, Review (no longer available) -Review is one of my favourite brands, their designs are always so feminine and pretty. I love that (some) of their skirts are very 50s inspired and this skirt is no exception! A large flower print always ‘pops’ against black.

fashion wishlist4. Studded bow belt, Miss Shop Myer-I think that bows make everything cute, this belt would be great with jeans or with a dress even! I was going to say that the studs keep it from being too girly…but who am I kidding? It is a cute, girly belt! 😉

5. Chiya Ladylike bag, Forever new- I love this bag! Normally I go for dark coloured bags (like black, burgundy etc.), but I should definitely be looking for a light shade to add to my collection. My favourite part of this bag is the cute little change purse, that is chained to the bag!
