Swatch Saturday: NYX Illuminating Bronzer

A few months ago I picked up one of the NYX illuminating brozers (total impulse buy!) and going through my makeup I realised that it is still unopened, so I decided to revisit my ‘Swatch Saturday’ posts. Starting with the NYX illuminating bronzer in ‘Magnetic’

NYX illuminating bronzer

My packaging just says ‘NYX illuminator’ but it is definitely the same one as the Target site. I find it odd that it is listed as ‘born to glow liquid illuminator’ when the compact is clearly a powder (and going by the ingredients list)

Target Australia stocks 3 of the NYX illuminating bronzer shades (out of 5), including ‘Chaotic’, ‘Magnetic’ (in this post) and ‘Narcissistic’. They retail for $17.95.

NYX illuminating bronzer‘Magnetic’ is a peach shade with gold flecks through it, when I swatched it on my hand it seemed quite pigmented. (see below) The powder is smooth and easily bendable.

NYX illuminating bronzerI think it would work great as a peach blush or blended out as a regular illuminator. You could apply it under your foundation for a ‘glow from within’ effect.

Have you tried any of the NYX illuminating bronzer shades? If so, what did you think?

Come back tomorrow for post 11 in my 29 posts in 29 days series.

Prize mail from Makeupnet

Today I received my prize in the mail from’s Halloween competition that they ran through their Facebook page .

The prize was a $50 shopping spree for their online store. I chose some NYX eye shadows, a NYX cream blush and Mini Kabuki brush.

The makeup came nicely packed in a plastic bag tied with a red ribbon, which I thought was a nice touch.

I don’t normally go for such bright eye shadow colours such as yellow or orange, but I had a makeup look in mind that I wanted to try out with those colours.

The look was inspired by one of the makeup looks that appears on the front cover of the Myer Mybeauty catalogue.

What I used to create the look:

Covergirl & Olay simply ageless foundation in ‘ivory’
Covergirl & Olay simply ageless eye concealer
Australis Primer
NYX Single Eye Shadow Golden Orange
NYX Single Eye Shadow Yellow Funk
Maybelline NY Line Definer liquid eyeliner in ‘Black’
Savvy by DB blush in ‘Peach’
Designer Brands lip pencil in ‘Raspberry’
BYS lipstick in ‘Sassy Salmon’
The last item I used was YSL- Yves Saint Laurent volume mascara in ‘Deep black’
This mascara is amazing! Unlike other mascaras, it doesn’t have the same smell…it smells almost perfumed! It did tend to clump a little at first, but after that it worked alright. It’s such a smooth formula and I don’t even notice I have it on. At the RRP of $52 it’s a little pricey, but worth it if you can afford it. I won this mascara from FashionTrend magazine, along with their current issue.

The verdict on NYX? I am yet to try the cream blush, but I loved the eye shadows. They are so smooth, vibrant and very pigmented!

If you would like to purchase some for yourself I recommend that you do from Not only do makeup net sell NYX, they also sell brands such as Lime crime and Madusa makeup.

Before I forget…I suggest you check out my friend’s blog post titled ‘5 Things That You Don’t Want To Hear When You’re Upset’ I think everyone should read this, it is SO true and perhaps it may help some people to be a better friend 😉
