Mothers Day Gift Ideas 2015

I am running a little behind with my Mother’s day gift guide this year, but you can buy all the items featured in physical stores/counters (seeing as it is too late for ordering online). So without further ado I give you my Mothers day gift ideas 2015!

Breakfast in bed
It is the Mother’s Day cliche, but many mums do enjoy getting waited on by their children for breakfast (even if it’s with help from Dad). It can be hard to rest your plate on your lap however, so this Kmart (Australia) breakfast in bed tray with folding legs is perfect and it’s only $10! Add a book, her favourite tea  (or coffee) for the perfect breakfast in bed package. Pictured above: ‘What Would Audrey Do?’ Currently on sale for $17 from Myer, Madame Flavour Green, Jasmine & Pear tea bags, 18 pyramid tea bags for $5.97 from Coles and Salt & Pepper ‘Dream’ tea cup- no longer available.

IMG_0029For the mum who likes to bake
With so many recipes available online it’s so easy to use your iPad/tablet as an electronic cook book, but of course like all cookbooks, it needs a stand, so you have both hands free for baking. The iPrep tablet stand is great for that, you can adjust the angle you have your ipad/tablet and it has a stylus, so you won’t get the touch screen dirty. For the aspiring pastry chef or an Adriano Zumbo fan a great way for your mum to challenge herself in the kitchen is with the new Adriano Zumbo book, The Zumbo Files. I admit that while I would love to attempt some of the amazing cakes in this book, I think Zumbarons (Macarons) would probably be the only recipe I could make successfully! Pictured above:  Prepara iPrep tablet stand and Stylus, $27 from Harvey Norman, ‘The Zumbo Files’, RRP $49.99 (currently on sale for $37.46) from Dymocks

Spoil your mum this Mother’s Day
If your mum is anything like mine, she doesn’t often spend money on things for herself (especially not expensive things). Of course a gift that’s from the heart doesn’t have to be expensive, but who says it can’t be either? If you can afford it, go for it! Don’t feel guilty for spoiling the one you love with an extravagant gift…she is your mum after all! Sometimes when I have bought an expensive gift for my mum, I’ve shared the cost with my siblings. Like the Butterfly silver memories pendant above. Pictured Above: Butterfly Memories Stainless steal pendant, Sterling silver chain and charms, all pieces sold separately (prices vary) from Butterfly Silver, YSL Rouge Volupte Shine, $55 from Myer, *L’Occitane Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc EDT 75ml, $84 from L’Occitane, Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara, $52 from Myer

Do you have anything planned with your mum, for this Sunday?

Happy Mother’s day in advance to all the mum’s (including my mum) & grandmothers. I hope you all have a lovely day. Also thoughts to all whose mums are no longer with them.

Kiss Goodbye to MS this May

There may be just over a week left in May, but that does not mean that it is too late to help Kiss goodbye to MS! (Multiple Sclerosis)

An estimated 21,000 Australians have Multiple Sclerosis, the disease being more common in woman than men (3:1).

What is MS?

” A simple explanation is conveyed by the term itself. Sclerosis is a Greek word meaning “hardened tissue or scars” and multiple means many. Recurring episodes of MS can cause many scars to appear in the central nervous system as a result of the breakdown of the myelin, the insulating material that covers the nerve fibres. This can result in impairment of motor, sensory and cognitive functions to a greater or lesser extent.” (MS Australia)

What is Kiss Goodbye to MS?

Kiss Goodbye To MS is an initiative to encourage people living with MS, their friends, family and work colleagues to raise much needed funds for the research into finding a cure and services for people living with MS.

During the month of May you can wear red lipstick, dare someone else to ‘go red’ or share the message by holding your own event at work, community group, or with friends.

I had big ideas of holding my own Blogger event for the cause, but unfortunately time just got away from me. However, I will be donating this year and I hope to organise a blogger event for Kiss Goodbye To MS in May 2013! It will give me months to organise it, instead of just weeks.

If you are not comfortable in wearing red lipstick every day in May, there’s a great range of merchandise on the Kiss Goodbye To MS site, including badges, pens, key rings and even a gorgeous umbrella (pictured below).

Kiss Goodbye To MS Umbrella $25 AUD

On May 30, 2012 it is World MS Day. You can also wear red on that day (clothes or lips), or wear a ‘kiss’ on your collar, with a pin or sticker from http://www.kissgoodbyetoms.org/merchandise

I will be wearing my red lippy on May 30, will you?
